Help Support the Balck Family!!!! As many of you know, The Balck family's life was turned upside down when their daughter Brooke was diagnosed in May of 2009 with Dilated Cardiomyopathy; she was 6 weeks old.
During the first 2 years of her life, Brooke was able to live at home on multiple medications, but in the summer of 2011 her health took a turn for the worse from which she could not recover. Brooke was listed for a heart transplant on July 1, 2011 and was hospitalized for 75 days in order to await the gift of her new heart. Sadly, the average wait time for a donor organ is 6 months and 1/3 of the patients die while waiting for a transplant.
The Balck family is at the beginning of a long journey which includes 12 daily medications that serve as constant reminders of just how lucky Brooke is to be alive. Unfortunately, 75 days in an ICU, a million dollar transplant surgery, and expensive anti-rejection medications have left Brooke's family with a mountain of medical bills that have no end.
In response a group of close friends and neighbors of the Balck's have decided to hold a golf tournament at Mission Viejo Country Club on May 7th to raise money for OneLegacy(the organ and tissue recovery organization that inspires our community to “Donate Life”), Brooke's Big Heart Foundation and to help off-set the Balck's mounting medical bills. For those of you who will be unavailable to attend, we are asking for Donations or sponsorships in same. Those who donate will receive a Brooke's Big Heart Golf Ball!!!
